Roy John's Story
Walden HS '73, Harvard University BA'80, New York University School of Law JD'84; President, Princeton Investment Strategies Group, ABA CLE Faculty Expert on Tax Law and a Guest Columnist for Tax.com.
I was very happy to see Annette Lieberson in 2009 and together with Walden alumni Neil Barsky, a retired Hedge Fun Manager, celebrate Anette's second retirement. Neil's sister Walden HS '72, Dr Carol Barsky is Chair of Emergency Room Medicine at St Vincent's Hospital. Neil's brother, Walden HS'80, Joel Barsky, is a New York City public school teacher and a proud father. I recently received a wonderful email from Dr. Sherry Baron, Walden HS'73, Harvard University'77, who works with the National Institute for Occupational Health and Safety and has been in touch with Phineas. I was happy to see Estelle Parsons, mother of Abbie Gehman, Walden HS '73 and Martha Gehman, Walden HS'73, celebrated recently at 81 years young on the front page of the Arts Section in the New York Times. I also had a great time attending the 2008 wedding of Ramon Morales, Walden HS'72, Harvard University'76. I have only brief positive info on Walden classmates such as Dr. Margaret Mabry; Ben Chaney, President of James Earl Chaney Foundation, dedicated to his brother, James Chaney, Michael Schwerner and Walden alumni, Andrew ...Expand for more
Goodman who gave their lives for civil rights in Mississippi in 1965;(Interestingly, Andrew Goodman was personally recruited to join the Mississippi Freedom Summer Project by Dr. Barbara Jones Omolade, a Queens College alumni,a founder of the College for Worker Education CCNY and a mentoree of civil rights leaders such as Ella Baker, Dr Martin Luther King Jr); Hubert Johnson, Walden HS'73 (US Air Force Veteran and retired NYCTA conductor); Denise Richards, Walden HS'72, Cornel University'76 and Sharon Hazel, Walden HS'72, (US Army Nurse and Golf War 1 veteran) etc. We all benefited from the faith, love and commitment to our success that we received at Walden from mentors such as Nate Levine, Annette Lieberson, faculty like George Kirschner, classmates, friends and families. I agree deeply with the post by Walden alumni Jane Schlossberg'72 who said "George impacted so many people's lives in such a positive way. If we could all say that when our time comes, then we will have truly found success in this life.". I am confident George would be most pleased to learn of the continued success of educator and Walden Alumni Deborah Lewis Sutherland'73. There is also a wonderful online Guest Book created by Steven Cohen,Walden'82, in partnership with the New York Times, in honor of George. All the best.
